Seismic-Sound Preview: City Arts Festival 2011! Holy Sh*t!

July 29, 2011

“Holy shit!” yeah, you know that’s what may have spilled out of your mouth when you read this years City Arts Fest line-up, and it’s alright cause so did we. I am still nursing the blisters on my feet from the Capitol Hill Block Party, as well as working on all the footage we captured, and now I’m reeling about this years City Arts Fest. I mean c’mon is it possible that they have outdone themselves after last years line-up? Some may say yes, others may say no, but we say “hell yes!” I mean where do we start even on a local scale? The Long Winters, Campfire Ok, Cobirds Unite and Cataldo (may I kiss your feet whoever put this one together). Fences, William Elliot Whitmore(yes Iowa we know, but still), Black Whales and Daniel G. Harmann (Good christ!). Mudhoney, Fastbacks, Thee Emergency and Lovesick Empire (WTF!? is all I can say), or for some of that local soul, r&b hip-hop flavor …. Fly Moon Royalty and Allen Stone (be prepared to get your groove on, cause you wont be sitting still).

Now that’s not to that say we aren’t completely stoked to see some of our personal local favorites open for national acts such as Crypts and Nightmare Fortress open for Crystal Castles. Grand Hallway and Lemolo open for Thao And The Get Down Stay Down, or Bryan John Appleby, Joseph Giant and Smokey Brights open for Sons of  Warren Oates and the list goes on….. cause we are. But I think you’re getting the picture.

So basically what we are saying is that from October 20-22nd … City Arts really has all the cultural bases covered and for little or no money($69). You have music, music, music, as well as authors, poets and filmmakers all gracing our cities stages for 3 days. Tickets for this incredible event go on sale August 5th, and yes 3-day wrist bands are like I said … $69 dollars! Line-up is below.
